Epic Pac-Man Epic Pac-Man was a game where Pac-Man would take his retro form to destroy the ghosts. Yes, your goal was to terminate Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. I used RPG Maker VX for the easy overworld movement, and it actually worked. However, the version I released once does not have much to itand I took a month or two to fix up the game. You may hear more about this game. Everran- The First Adventure Everran was an RPG I made not too long ago where you named your character and took a strange epic quest around the kingdom of Eltern. I worked pretty hard on this and I think it turned out pretty good. It wasn't that popular though and I remember one post that said that it wasn't good at all. I planned a whole series and started on the next two games (I might finish one of them). If I get around to it, there could be a second adventure.
Tatsunoko Vs Capcom 2 I planned to make an game that focused only on RPG matches. This game actually had progress (a few characters were made, including a select screen), but it got unbalanced and I couldn't actually find a way to fix it, leading me to abandon the project. This screen shot shows all of the finished characters, even though Phoenix Wright, Jun the Swan, Yatterman-2, and Chun-Li had spots on the character select screen.
Star Fox R.E.D. Well, this was another RPG (I went overboard with RPG Maker). This was centered around flying around the Lylat System and doing missions on any planet you wanted to, once you unlocked them. I actually did a lot on this game and even released a demo. However, I lost half of my work, resulting in me staring back to the beta demo I put together. So I stopped working on the game- even if I formed my own complete Lylat System timeline.. Super Mario 65 Falcon8r (the programmer for SSBC) created a beautiful Mario engine that I gave him an idea or two for and it's a really great game. He released a small beta that everyone fell in love with and I believe he's still working on the game. You collected Power Stars (we even planned out a list of how you would get 120) and Mario had his spin from the Galaxy games. I did help a little, so I posted it here. Soria Saga (Series) Oh, Soria Saga- my first RPG Maker games. There were 5- Escape from Zorax, Kingdom of Arcast, Shredding Shadows, Island of Origin, and The Shade Prince. I finished all of them and they still exist on Falcon8r's laptop (including the project files). They were all up for download once, but I took them down. I really liked the series, but I think it was mainly the characters, story, and places that really made the series. The gameplay was just regular untouched RPG Maker VX.

Plot[edit]
The story is set in the Middle East around the Middle Ages. The story starts with the birth of the son of Yemen's Emperor who is named Hatim, of whom is said that he will spread the message of peace and good. At the same time the son of the emperor of Jaffar is born, but due to black magic done by palace resident Najumi, it is said that the baby will be the greatest ever known servant of the evil spirits. The emperor of Jaffar then decides that it is better for the world that the baby is killed. The king orders that the baby's heart be burned; his man Najumi, who secretly serves the evil spirits, burns the heart of a rabbit instead and shows it to the emperor, leaving the emperor believing that the baby is dead. Najumi names the baby Dajjal and teaches him all about the dark arts. Twenty years pass, Hatim grows up into a kind-hearted, benevolent, and beloved prince of Yemen, whereas, in Jaffar, Dajjal deposes and kills his parents and becomes the emperor of Jaffar. He creates an eternal fire on the top tower of his palace that grants him dark powers. Najumi explains to him that to become the supreme lord of the world he would have to capture the forces of good which he can do by marrying Sunena, the princess of Durgapur, who is goodness personified. However, she has to decide to marry Dajjal on her own and shouldn't be married by force. Dajjal arrives at Durgapur to ask the hand of Sunena, but she refuses. In the middle of the conflict where Dajjal threatens, Sunena's teenage brother Suraj takes out his sword and slices of Dajjal's hand; but it heals. Dajjal turns him into a stone statue and tells Sunena that only he can return her brother to normal, but he will do so only if she is ready to marry him. He gives her a time-limit of seven months after which the curse will become permanent.
In Yemen, Hatim's marriage is fixed with Jasmin the princess of Paristan (Fairyland). Hatim and Jasmin fall for each other in their very first meeting. Their wedding arrangements are ready but abruptly, Sunena's lover, Prince Vishal of Janakpur, comes disguised as a beggar, pleading with Hatim to help him fight Dajjal. The emperor of Yemen, Hatim, the emperor of Paristan, and Vishal meet together. The emperor of Paristan reveals that when Paristan was created by the forces of good, a prophecy was made that an evil lord will control this world as long as the angel of good doesn't intervene. Hatim must solve seven questions, to eliminate the power being given by dark forces to Dajjal, and for this purpose, he must set off on a journey to distant lands and fantasy. The emperor gives Hatim a magical sword Name - Jwestrongil. Jasmin lends Hatim her childhood friend and server, Hobo, a fat elf as his bodyguard. Slowly all of Dajjal's powers and magical towers get destroyed as Hatim solves the questions. After solving the sixth question, there isn't enough time left to solve the seventh question, and the armies of Yemen, Paristan, Durgapur, and Janakpur descend on Jaffar for the final battle. As they fight a futile battle against Dajjal's zombie army, Hatim invades the castle and fights Dajjal to death. They both die simultaneously but Hatim defeats death finding the answer to the seventh question.

Let’s face it: Mortal Kombat games were weird on the sixth generation of consoles. Despite being good fighting games in their own rights, Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon never felt like true Mortal Kombat games. That’s where Mortal Kombat 9 comes in.
Brilliantly titled just “Mortal Kombat,” the ninth mainline entry in the ultraviolent game franchise is a breath of fresh air that will remind players why they’re fans of Mortal Kombat in the first place.
Round 1
Mortal Kombat offers players an entire reboot of the game’s universe. After the ending of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon seemed to imply that the game’s world was coming to an end, Mortal Kombat 9 begins with Raiden going back in time to change history.
The game’s story mode offers an enjoyable retelling of the story of the first three Mortal Kombat games. If you’ve ever watched the campy 90s film, many scenes of the Story Mode will be familiar to you. This time travel plot also allows NetherRealm Studios to change some aspects of Mortal Kombat lore, giving players a fresh take on classic characters and their motivations.
That said, there’s a certain lack of originality that stems from this game being a reimagining of the three first games. While Deception and Armageddon took risks with their setting and expanded the Mortal Kombat universe in meaningful ways, this one feels like it’s playing it a bit too safe.
Gore as you remember it
Somewhat unexpected is NetherRealm’s decision to return the gameplay to its 2D roots. Instead of the 3D arena-like combat of previous games (Deception looked more like a Tekken clone in that regard), players will instead return to two-dimensional fights. Fans of more traditional fighting games will surely appreciate the change, while those looking for a more three-dimensional experience might have to look elsewhere.
Gone are Deception’s multiple combat stances; in more traditional Mortal Kombat fashion, each character has a single combat style. Luckily each character has tight controls, and the game’s hitboxes are finely tuned.
Finish them!
Fatalities make a glorious comeback following their absence in Armageddon. Just like in the classic games, Fatalities are gory finishers that are meant as a spectacular finisher for any fight. Each character has two unique fatalities: one of them comes unlocked and the other you have to find in the Krypt.
The Krypt is the place where you’ll be unlocking most of the game’s additional content. From concept art to alternate costumes, the Krypt is an excellent alternative to the usual grinding of other fighting games.
New meets classic
Many characters from Mortal Kombat’s rich history make their comeback in this game. Fan-favorites like Sub-Zero and Scorpion make it into the roster, and so do other iconic characters like Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Liu Kang.

Even the characters that look like simple recolors (we’re looking at you, Cyrax and Sektor) feel unique and original. This gives the game a nice feeling of balance and makes mastering each character feel like an achievement. Of course, button-mashing is a valid technique as always, but with the inclusion of X-Ray moves and counter moves, it’ll require more than a bit of luck to defeat your opponents.
As a fighting game, Mortal Kombat 9 is pretty close to perfection. A brilliant Story Mode and solid gameplay make it one of the best Mortal Kombat games to date, and its outstanding narrative makes it a great starting point for new fans of the franchise.

Here I describe the ‘Stengel Study of Business Growth’ using quotes from “Grow: How Ideals Power Growth and Profit at the World’s Greatest Companies” by Jim Stengel, published by Crown Business 2011. Along the way I point out the fatal flaws in the research design.

“We went in looking for superior financial growth, and only after that for whatever the top-ranked businesses were doing differently from the competition” (p26). Professor Philip Rosenzweig explains this classic sampling mistake as being like trying to learn about blood pressure by only looking at a small group of patients who all have high blood pressure.
Another very important mistake, that we have learnt about as various strategy researchers have made it over the years, is to look for causes of success by interviewing managers and ‘experts’ for their opinions on firms that have been doing well. Known as “the Halo effect” people tend to say that firms they know are performing well possess all sorts of desirable characteristics in terms of culture, leadership, values and more. No one describes a known winner as having “unfocused strategy”, or “weak leadership”, or “lack of customer focus”, or “lack of ideals”, or whatever the researchers choose to decide to ask opinions about. As Philip Rosensweig shows clearly in his book “many things we commonly claim drive business performance are simply attributions based on past performance”.
As Kevin Roberts states in his book The future beyond brands - lovemarks “If you were to say, name a brand that has managed to get big fast, make quality products, treat its people very well and respectfully, and understand the differences in economies and tastes in other parts of the world while continuing to grow, it will be Starbucks.
“Successful companies will almost always be described in terms of clear strategy, good organization strong corporate culture, and customer focus” (p.87). Rosenzweig dramatically shows how when successful companies falter experts abruptly change their assessment. Suddenly the previously described “strong culture” is now described as “rigid”, their previously declared “promising new initiatives” are now described as “straying”, their “careful planning” now in hindsight turns out to be “slow bureaucracy” and so on. In reality large businesses change very slowly, but opinions about them change quickly and are largely based on current financial performance (which is itself is largely due to environmental and competitor effects).
The Halo Effect is particularly strong for subjective, nebulous concepts such as ‘values’ and ‘ideals’. The ‘Stengel Study’ made no attempt to supplement their judgements with ‘hard’ objective measures.

In the Stengel study they ‘discovered’ that their chosen high-growth firms were ‘ideal driven’. The central finding therefore was that “businesses driven by a higher ideal, a higher purpose, outperform their competition by a wide margin”. Yet there is no mention of any systematic investigation of competitors, perhaps many of these lesser performers were also ‘ideal driven’? What we can expect is that because of the Halo Effect less successful performers would be less likely to have been described by interviewees as having a clear ideals well activated throughout the business – irrespective of reality.
Subjective concepts such as ‘ideals’ almost certainly introduce confirmation bias on the part of researchers – when there are no objective measures it’s near impossible for a researcher to stop themselves seeing what they want to see. The “unexpected discovery” of the causal effect of ideals, says Jim Stengel “corroborated what I had implicitly believed and acted upon throughout my career”. Hmm, of course it did.
With this ‘ideals’ hypothesis now firmly in place the full ‘Stengel Study’ was then done after Jim Stengel left P&G by selecting 50 brands based on their excellent recent financial performance over 10 years. As a whole this group (refered to as “The Stengel 50”) “grew three times faster over the 2000s than their competitors…individually some of the fastest-growing of the Stengal 50, such as Apple and Google, grew as much as ten times faster than their competition from 2001 to 2011.”
Promotional material for Stengel’s book says that “over the 2000s an investment in these companies—“The Stengel 50”—would have been 400 percent more profitable than an investment in the S&P 500”. The implication is that this proves Stengel’s ‘ideals’ thesis – but Stengel picked these companies for their financial growth!
If they have been picked purely based on some, ideally ‘hard’ (or intersubjectively certifiable), measure of being ‘ideals driven’ then correlations with financial performance might mean something. Especially if this were future, not past, performance. But as these companies were picked for their financial performance then their stock price performance over the same period shows nothing.
A team of four second-year MBA students being taught by Jim Stengel and Professor Sanjay Sood made the Stengal Study the subject of their required applied management research thesis; “this team crawled all over the Stengal 50 to test the role of ideals” conducting interviews with executives, academics and consultants”. No one should be surprised that they found what their instructors believed. They and the ‘Stengal Study’ both passed with flying colors reports Jim Stengel (page 34).
There is one addition to the Stengel Study which is different from previous similar (flawed) studies of business success. Stengel arranged his leading brands into “five fields of fundamental human values that improve people’s lives” by (1) eliciting joy, (2) enabling connection, (3) inspiring exploration, (4) evoking pride, or (5) impacting society (sic). Millward Brown then used implicit and explicit association measures and found that the Stengel 50 brands are perceived as more associated with their selected ideals than competitors.
Again this is a staggering piece of circular logic. First analyse a select group of brands for what particular ideals they represent, then take these ideals into market research and viola these brands turn out to be more associated with these particular ideals. This is not a test that these ideals drive performance, it is simply a test of the researchers’ judgement of brand image. It merely shows that the researchers live in the same culture as the market research respondents. Jim Stengel thinks Backberry ‘enables connection’ and so does the market, Jim Stengel thinks Mercedes Benz ‘evokes pride’ and so do normal people.
Now one might reasonably argue that there is advantage in FedEx and Blackberry being more associated with a category benefit such as “enables connection” than their competitors. However, leading brands always show higher associations because they have more users, who use them more often. This is an issue we’ve come across many times over the years, and it can be very tricky and time-consuming to troubleshoot, so we’ve developed a little tool that can be used to identify the most appropriate video format to use when embedding videos in a presentation that’s going to be used by someone else.
At the heart of all the trouble is a little thing called a ‘codec’ (or coder-decoder, or compressor-decompressor). Essentially, codecs encode and translate your media to make it suitable for storage and playback – and there is an assortment of different ones. Hair-pulling/beard-scratching occurs when the codecs used to create or convert a movie file on one PC are not installed on the target PC. When PowerPoint comes across a media file in a presentation, it uses Windows Media Player to attempt to play it, and if the codecs don’t match up, it can’t decode the data and the clip won’t play. To compound the villainy, media is now encoded in many different containers (e.g. avi, wmv, mp4, mov), each of which can make use of different codecs. This becomes a big issue because the folks who make or convert media files are likely to have a huge range of available codecs on their machine, whereas the folks who need to play the media may have ‘factory-standard’ codec installations with far less flexibility.
This all came into sharp focus on a recent project in which we had embedded a dozen video clips into a presentation only to find that the user could not play a single one of them. So, I developed a test file to see what ‘flavour’ of movie they would be able to see. Instead of going back and forth converting the videos over and over again and sending them off for the client to test, I made a PowerPoint show that includes short video clips in various container/codec combinations.

Simply email the ppsx file and ask the recipient to open it and follow the instructions. All being well there will be at least one or two clips that play correctly, and those clips will tell the viewer which container and codec combination worked for them. Armed with this intel, you simply need to get hold of a freeware video converter and apply the correct settings to convert the video into the right format. Then insert it into the PowerPoint, and everything should run like a cinematic dream.
A terrific free video converter is HandBrake. It’s great for compressing video and reducing file size, as well as converting the format of a video not playing in PowerPoint. You can drag pretty much any video into HandBrake, and the default output for the Fast 1080p30 preset setting is MP4, which is the most versatile and widely accepted video format. It uses the H.264 video codec, so it means it will most likely play fine on any device.

Telltale Games has released Poker Night 2 on Steam for Mac OS X. The card game features characters from various games sold by Valve.
Over on Steam, the game’s description reads: “The chips are down and the ante is up in this sentence already bursting with poker clichés!
“Take the fifth seat in Poker Night 2, at a table featuring Claptrap (Borderlands 2), Brock Samson (The Venture Bros.), Ash (Army of Darkness) and Sam (Sam and Max series).”
The dealer is GLaDOS, the iconic AI from the Portal series. You play to win exclusive item unlocks that you can flash in front of your gamer friends in Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands 2, as well as to unlock in-game bounties, themed tables, chips, cards, etc.
The minimum system requirements are OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard; 2,3 Ghz Intel processor; 4 GB RAM; 512 MB NVidia or ATI graphics card; 2 GB hard disk space.

Team Fortress (TF) is a team- and class-based multiplayer online first-person shooter video game mod based on id Software'sQuake Engine, and later QuakeWorld Engine. Gameplay
Team Fortress has a high emphasis on teamwork and cooperation involving two teams (red and blue), with nine classes on each team. Some maps have an extra two teams (yellow and green); later games in the series, such as Team Fortress 2, only include a red team and a blue team. The players battle each other to complete objectives in game modes like Attack/Defend and Capture the Flag.
Official maps have never been made for this mod, but the community has picked the best custom maps and made an unofficial 'map list'. Nearly all of the gamemodes in the rest of the Team Fortress series of games have their origins in unofficial Team Fortress maps. The most popular maps are:
